This lovely native plant as many common names from Horsemint to Lemon Beebalm;

We’ve always called this fragrant beauty LEMON BERGAMOT (Monarda citriodora)

Lemon Bergamot is a self-sowing annual.

Be sure to leave seed heads for the birds & next year’s blooms!

Tall flower spikes with 2-6 fragrant purple flower clusters per stem. A short-lived perennial that will self-sow readily. Quickly fills in spaces in the garden to prevent weeds and support wildlife all year round.

Lemon scented GROUNDCOVER and a HUMMINGBIRD MAGNET? Sign me up!!

PLANT DEETS

  • 12-30” tall with 9-12” wide.

  • Blooms May~July abundant moisture prolongs blooming into early Autumn.

  • Full Sun to Light Shade (more sun = taller plants)

  • Dry to medium moisture in average well drained soils.

  • Drought tolerant & Deer Resistant
