Northern Dropseed’s fine blue-green blades form fountain-like mounds that catch in the breeze make native grass a great ‘filler’ in the garden!

A living mulch that protects soils, hosts butterflies and skippers AND homes for native bees!

Emerges in Spring then blooms clusters of airy terracotta 3-8” long flowers on long stems in late Summer to mid-Autumn.

Companion plant with Echinacea, Rudbeckia or Asclepis tuberosa for a beautiful natural bird feeder in every season!

PLANT DEETS

  • Clumping perennial warm season grass

  • 2-3’ tall with 24” spacing

  • Full to part sun in well draining soils.

  • Excellent ground cover and living mulch

Here at the farm, we plant Northern Dropseed in drifts in between other drifts of native perennials. We’ve also found it useful along walkways to create a visual guide.
