Autumn Nature Adventures in CNY

There’s so many nature adventures you can enjoy in Central New York all year round.

But Autumn…

now Autumn in Central New York offers a splendor all its own.

Read on friend to discover local Autumn happenings this September!

Part 1 of a 3 part blog series!

Despite my ragweed allergy, Autumn is my favorite season to explore nature and enjoy local events held in September and October.

It’s always nice to get out of the garden to make new friends.

A nature walkabout also let’s you see how Mother Nature creates her ‘gardens’!

Here’s some of my favorite Autumn happenings of September. Don’t forget to share your favs in the comments below!

SEPTEMBER HAPPENINGS

We'd love to see your smile September 16th & 17th at two local FUNdraisers;

SATURDAY Sept. 16th

Find us at the Greenhouse Fall Market hosted by our pals at North Street Nursery & Farm in Pulaski,NY.

This community event benefits the Pulaski Food Cupboard which offers emergency food services, a food sense program and a fresh foods program.

Gnomes & Native Plants! OH MY!

For these special events…

We’re bringing native plants for creating Autumn Porch Pots

Plus we’re bringing a Gnome friend from the woods to meet you too!

Handcrafted with fresh greenery from his moss hat down to his ‘toes’~ these Gnomes are so very special!

We’re taking pre-orders all weekend at these events!

See them in action HERE

There’s over over 40 artisans, food trucks, pumpkins, wine tastings, and a great deal on mums!

(YES~ mums & native plants like native sedges, asters and alumroots mix together beautifully!)

Don’t forget to take a nature break before or after fun community events!

Oswego County has so many natural areas it’s hard to pick just one!

Instead here’s two you might like to explore before popping into the above community events:

1) Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center by Cornell Cooperative Extention of Oswego County has ponds and trails teeming with native plants & wildlife.

2) Visit Selkirk Shores State Park for amazing lake views and take a stroll down Frog Hollow for heron watching!

The fun continues on Sunday Sept. 17th

with a fundraiser for Amanda MacDowell at the Sandy Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

We’ll be in great company too! Friends like Helping Hands & Pond Pit BBQ are coming together with live music, art and more in support of Amanda.

BUT WAIT! There’s more fun coming on September 23rd & 24th!

I kind of think this weekend as a ‘Earth Warrior Weekend’!

Saturday September 23 you can volunteer with Sterling Nature Center for their Coastal Clean Up or lend a hand removing invasive species with SLELO-PRISM to protect habitats along Lake Ontario

Then on Sunday Sept. 24th

This fun workshop takes place at beautiful Little Salmon Farm in Parish,NY~ their pumpkin patch & country views are amazing!
