Top 3 Gnome Questions

Whether in my inbox or at a festival. three of the most common questions about our handcrafted gnomes are these:

Let’s jump in…

#1 Do I need a big pot to put my Gnome into?

All our Gnomes are made to stand on their own & proudly, either on a small table, porch or in your garden.

Gnomes placed outside in the garden should have their ‘feet tucked in” the snow or soil. This is so they can laugh in the face of Winter winds. Nor will they fall down laughing when the birds land on them (hey that’s GOT to tickle!!)

However, if you’d prefer your gnome in a pot just let me know~ and I’ll make it happen!

#2 How long will my Gnome or other Winter arrangement last?

Your gnome is made with fresh cut greenery and needs two things:

WATER & COLD TEMPERATURES
Occasionally mist your gnome with cool water– avoid misting any dried flowers.

Using your Gnome indoors:

Keep in a cool part of the house & mist every other day with cool water. Like most fresh cut arrangements your Gnome should last up to 2 weeks.

BUT THEY CAN LAST SO MUCH LONGER!

Placed ‘WILD’ in the garden or on a porch, Gnomes & other evergreen arrangements will last ALL Winter with little care. Just ‘tuck’ their feet into the soil or snow…

My first gnome creations… affectionately called ‘Fred & Ginger”

These were ‘rookie’ gnomes- and I had no idea how long they’d last. Tested all Winter they were! They held up through major snowstorms, rain, & a friends curious Great Dane!

They came inside often for parties and then back into the great outdoors! A little spritz of water now & then to last until late March!

When not decorating your table, let your gnome CHILL OUT!

Your gnome or arrangement needs a cool place like on a porch or garage to keep those evergreens happy! Mist occasionally

You can bring Gnomes inside but be sure to place them back in their cool spot when the party's over…

For example– we have a little Winter Solstice celebration this year.
The day of the party about an hour or so before everyone arrives I’ll bring in a few gnomes including a 4’ one! I’ll spritz them all with water and maybe add twinkle lights.

Then after the party is done back outside they go. (oh ok it might be the next morning!!)

#3 is my favorite question about Gnomes!

Last March I got this question in my inbox:

“My wife says it’s time to ditch the gnome. I hate to do it - he’s a cute little guy by the door.

But she’s right it's all brown except his hat, nose & the bird on top.

Can I recycle it?? Help! I can’t stand the thought of putting him into a damn trash can!!!”

Here is a copy of my reply about his 6’ gnome his kids called ‘Fluffy’…

“I’m so glad you enjoyed Fluffy. No need to send him to the dump! Take off the bird & nose- don’t forget the little bird's nest. Put these in a paper bag with your name, address & phone number. Bring them to me & this coming December I’ll make you another ‘Fluffy’ with them.

There is no metal or plastics in our arrangements. If you put Fluffy’s greenery in the woods edge or in your garden laying on its side you’ll have a “pollinator nursery”! Insects, birds & other wildlife will use it for food, shelter and a place to lay the next generation of pollinators.”

No need to take ‘Fluffy’ the gnome to the landfill!”

And there you have it friends…
