Monarch Monitoring Blitz ‘25

In this week’s post learn how you can help save monarch butterfly and milkweed populations in your area.

Plus I’m inviting you to the farm for a special event for Monarch Butterflies on August 2!

Join the International Monarch Monitoring Blitz (July 25~August 3)

During this special week, thousands of individuals in North America will be documenting monarchs and milkweed populations!

Citizen Science for Monarch Conservation

Participants in the Monarch Monitoring Blitz look for monarchs and milkweed in their area.

They photograph and submit their findings to Journey North. This research organization tracks wildlife migrations and seasonal change in North America for wildlife conservation of migratory species.

Journey North’s current monitoring projects include migratory species like Orioles, Bald Eagles, Monarchs as well as seasonal change such as leaf out and ice-out.

How do you join the fun?

Sign up at Journey North to submit your Monarch & Milkweed observations during the week of July 26 to August 3

Then during the week, take your phone, camera or binoculars and go exploring for Monarchs!

You are looking for monarch butterflies, milkweed plants, and any monarch eggs, caterpillars and chrysalises.

Then share your monarch and milkweed observations on Journey North.

EASY PEASY! And you’ll be providing data that will help save monarchs and their habitats!
