Blue False Indigo or Wild Blue Indigo (Baptisia australis) is a showy member of the pea family that blooms spikes of rich blue-lavender flowers in Spring. As such it is an important early food source for native bees. 

A mounding perennial with green-blue leaves, the beauty of Baptisia australis extends into the Winter as its flowers become dried seed pods. 

Plant Facts: 

Perennial 

Grows 3-5’ high with 3’ spacing needed

Blooms April thru early July 

Full sun & Medium-Moist well draining soil

In the wild you can find Baptisia australis in woodland edges and meadows.

NOTE: due to cooler temps this Spring we are giving these beautiful plants a few extra weeks to wake up. Plan for pick-up late May to early June.
