IMPORTANT NOTE on Plant Sizes & Blooms
PLANT SIZES:
Since our plants are field grown, we size and price our native plants on AGE and CARE they have received.
ROOKIES are young plants sown & grown within the current year
FIRST YEAR OLD PLANTS are native plants that are 1 year old. They have experienced overwintering followed by seasonal growth. (think quarts & gallons)
SECOND AND THIRD YEAR OLD PLANTS: are those with multiple years of dormancy and seasonal growth. (Previously in 2 or more gallons)
BLOOM TIMES: many native plants are perennials; based on age they may or may not bloom this year.
Hey I get it… It’s hard to be patient when you want to see pollinator action on your native plants like NOW!
But friends, plants need time to get roots set for surviving the heat of Summer and Winter’s cold. It’s ok to not have tons of blooms in the first year of planting.
Pollinators need the leaves of young native plants too and not just the flowers! Leaves provide them with shelter & food even before the plant blooms pretty flowers.
PLUS younger plants tend to be more determined to get going than an older plant say in a 2-3 gallon pot.
THIS IS GOOD for YOU because quart and smaller sized plants save you big money!
BUT look if you want larger plants for blooms NOW order the WHOPPER sized Blooms Boex— these plants are 2+ years old and will bloom once their roots get ‘comfy’ in your garden.
We reserve the right to adjust plant lists & pickup dates as needed in case of adjusting to Mother Nature’s whimsical temper!
You will be notified of any changes by email before picking up your order
