Aronia arbutifolia is a beautiful native shrub for damp soils and full sun. Loved for its brilliant Autumn colors of orange, yellow and red.
Pollinators love Red Chokeberry for it’s clusters of white blooms in Spring while birds and other mammals rely on its red berries as an ‘emergency’ food source in late Winter.
Chokeberry shrubs naturally form into thickets naturalizing the garden and providing vital Winter shelter to birds and other wildlife including pheasant, grouse and turkey.

Happiest in moist to average well draining soils ~ tolerant of clay and sandy loam once established
Fruits best in full sun but at home in part shade. Fruits are high in pectin and can be made into jams & jellies!
Grows 6-12’ tall
Pair with Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) and Silky Dogwood (Cornus amomum) for a beautiful wildlife hedge or in a rain garden!
